AMERICAN ICE
American Ice Company, Inc. was founded in 1980 as a division of Economy Oil Company. Economy’s owners originally started the division known as Economy Ice Company to meet the demand for packaged ice at the convenience stores that Economy Oil operated. Consolidation in the heating oil delivery industry, as well as the proliferation of natural gas as the preferred heating fuel in the Eau Claire area, led to the eventual sale of the oil business and convenience stores. By 1986, the sale of the Economy brand was complete, and American Ice Company, Inc. was born.
